The Royal Challengers Bangalore are up against the defending champions Mumbai Indians in the 5th match of the Pepsi IPL 2014. RCB cruised to an easy 8 wicket victory over the Delhi Daredevils in their first game, while Mumbai lost by 41 runs against the Kolkata Knight Riders in the first game of this season at Sharjah.
Today's match will be played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium with the first ball being bowled at 4 pm IST. We should expect lots of runs in this clash with the likes of Yuvraj, Kohli, AB deVilliers, & of course Chris Gayle in the strong lineup for RCB. Gayle surprisingly missed RCB's opener against DD & is unfortunately yet again a doubt for today's match due to injury. RCB & indeed Gayle himself have been quite as to why the Jamaican is not in the playing squad.
The Mumbai Indians side is also filled with brillaint batting talent with new man Michael Hussey along side Pollard, Rohit Sharma, & Ambati Rayadu. New Zealand's young sensation Corey Anderson is yet to shine for the Mumbai outfit, as is most of the squad who failed to get runs on the board in their first match.
On the bowling front, RCB have great pace options with the experince of Albie Morkel, Mitchell Starc, Varun Aaron & Ashok Dinda. Spin options rely on young Yuzvendra Chahal who played a Man of the Match performance against DD. Yuvraj Singh also bolsters the bowling attack.
Mumbai Indians have equally fast bowlers with Lasith Malinga, Zaheer Khan, & Kieron Pollard. Pragyan Ojha & Harbhajan Singh will try to stop the RCB batsmen with their spin attack.
This match is finely poised to produce some great cricket. Powerfull batters who can all strike the ball miles away will be on display this afternoon. Deadly bowling spells may be the deciding factor as to who will come out on top in the game.
Post match update will be posted soon. Thanks for reading! :)
